Personal Visualization Project

In this final project, you’ll get to use data visualization skills from throughout the course to share information about a topic of your choosing. This is an opportunity to practice what you’ve learned and apply it to something you are curious or passionate about. You’ll first submit a very rough draft, and then submit a polished final product.

Visualizing Poll Data

In this assignment, you’ll create presentation slides showing the results from a recent national poll. This assignment is intentionally designed with loose instructions for practice completing a data visualization task independently from beginning to end.

Esri StoryMap Tour

In this assignment, you’ll create a guided interactive map using the Esri StoryMaps platform.

Interactive Map Comparison

In this assignment, you will use U.S. Census data about state statistics to create interactive maps using two different tools.

Advice Flowchart

Flowcharts and network diagrams are particularly good at showing processes and relationships. In this assignment, you’ll create a flowchart that offers advice for different scenarios.

Youth Sports Infographics

In this assignment, you’ll make promotional infographics suitable for sharing on social media. You’ll choose a communication message and use Adobe Illustrator for Part 1, then experiment with several interactive web tools for Part 2.

Choropleth Maps in Tableau

In this assignment, you’ll map liquor licenses for the entire state. Instead of using point data to represent the location of every establishment licensed to sell alcohol, we’ll aggregate the data by county and create a choropleth map.

Mapping Point Data

In this assignment, we’ll use Google apps to map all the businesses with liquor licenses in Whitman County, which is home to WSU’s Pullman campus.
