Adobe Illustrator is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud software bundle, which is unfortunately not open-source or free (aside from a short free trial). Here are your options for accessing the software to complete assignments in this course:

1. Check to see if you have free access with your WSU account.

WSU is offering access for students enrolled in certain classes. This course is not one of the designated courses, but you may be enrolled in another one. Follow the instructions in the box below to see if this works for you.

Please follow the instructions below to enable access to Creative Cloud Desktop Apps on your personal device.

  1. Visit https://creativecloud.adobe.com and use your school credentials to sign in.
  2. If prompted, select Company or School Account and then enter your password. Or provide your credentials in your school’s login screen.
  3. From the Creative Cloud website, browse for and download your desired app. Click Apps on the top of the page to view all apps.

2. Use a campus lab in Pullman, Vancouver or Everett.

The Pullman campus has several computer labs with Adobe software.

I do not receive information about lab availability on other campuses, but I can help you find that information if you need it.

3. Purchase an Illustrator subscription.

You can buy a subscription and download the program from the Adobe website: Creative Cloud plans

By far the cheapest option for this class is purchasing a one-month subscription to Illustrator only, which is usually about $32. All assignments that require Illustrator are intentionally scheduled within one month of this course so one month of access is sufficient. The best value as a student is definitely the student plan, which has access to all Adobe software at $20/month, but for a one-year contract.

4. Discuss a personalized alternative plan.

If you cannot use Adobe Illustrator because of technology or other limitations, please let me know right away and we’ll figure out the best alternative software program to use for your specific situation and learning goals.
