Food and Friendship at Hillside Cafe

Square

Moving from Los Angeles to Pullman for college proved the value of a close-knit community. Small towns are just different, and our WSU community is the center of so many core memories from people all over the world. Dining halls are one of those places for freshmen. I value independence and hard work, so I spend a lot of my time employed at WSU’s Hillside Cafe. I have come to cultivate an appreciation for truly getting to know those around me and seeing everyone as individuals, and this extends from fellow staff to customers. People tend to bond over shared meals, and I am happy to play a part in facilitating that. Here, I take you along the back of the kitchen to highlight food preparation as well as those that prepare it for you. We may all wear the same uniform, but we are all beautifully different.
