Farming on Wawawai Grade Rd.

Square

I chose to depict the farms on Wawawai Grade Rd. The rowing team travels these roads every afternoon on our way to the Snake River. Coming from New Zealand, this is one of my favourite moments of the day as it reminds me of home. It amazes me how the farming environments can be similar and yet so different. Pullman’s farms have a sense of loneliness, abandoned and broken equipment lies on the road. NZ farms flaunt much more livestock and green fields. While NZ has abandoned farms, the Pullman farms are much more rustic and machinery filled. This essay shows the parts of Pullman’s farming environment that contrast with my memories of New Zealand’s farms. Photos were taken with an iphone 12, and I used the rule of thirds throughout the shoot, showing the empty and open space surrounding each piece of abandoned equipment.
