Hopelink Food Bank in Seattle, Washington

COM 320 Final Project: "Look for the Helpers"

By Jared Komorita

With the commencement of Fall and the holiday season is upon us, some local residents struggle to obtain the necessary goods to support their families. In the Shoreline community, Hopelink has been the primary dependent source for families to purchase food that ranges from fresh produce from local farmers, or the essential nourishment that is essential to living a balanced, healthy life. The local food banks are crucial during the holiday season because it helps brings the community together. I felt like it was appropriate to dedicate this project to my hometown food bank because it’s very prominent within the community. Growing up, my family and I would volunteer to help the families in need. It taught me lessons about integrity and character. I’m grateful for the opportunity to volunteer to help others. Overall, the experience has been humbling, and I was glad to visit during the Thanksgiving break to embrace the holiday spirit.
