Thanksgiving Food Drive

Photos and Writing by Bailey Arnold

The following photo story is about a friend of mine from my home town who wanted to do something that gave back to the local community and helped others have a good thanksgiving when maybe they couldn’t normally do anything on their own. She decided to coordinate a large donation of canned good and other items to Hopelink. I chose to take photos of my friend because I really enjoyed the idea of helping with food around thanksgiving since a lot of people who are less fortunate are left alone or they go hungry on a holiday that is about coming together, being thankful for one’s blessings as well as helping others. Instead of the usual donation collection method we decided to go to our local grocery store and stalk up on canned food as well as some other necessities such as baby wipes and diapers. I chose ten photos throughout the whole process so that viewers were able to see what we did and how we went about donating our items to Hopelink.

This photo is meant to show most of the cans of food that were picked out.

Hopelink asked us to also include necessities for babies such as diapers or baby wipes.

After we collected all of the items we that were needed we bought about as many cans as we could fit in two bags.

This image is also to show all of the diffferent items she bought to donate.

In this photo we are bagging up all the cans and baby items that were bought for donations.

This image shows all the bags after we loaded them into the car.

In this image my friend Gianna, the one who coordinated the donation, is posing with the cart full of bags for the donation.

The image is of all of the bags again but after we dropped them off at Hopelink, after we put them in the donation pile.

This photo shows the front of our local Hopelink with the logo on the side of the building.

The final photo of the series shows the sign telling people where to drop off their donations.
