Looking Past the Faces

Photos and Writing by Melody Tamminen

The process for my story idea was to find something that I cared about and loved so much that people could know the truth about it and not live their lives with this stereotype that they think is true. My perspective on the stereotype of sorority and fraternity life that we are all the same, and we really do not offer much to the community or the future.

The pictures I took shown below are the few men and women that crush this stereotype. The men and women in the Greek community are always there for each other no matter the trouble and are always there to lend a helping hand. Individuals like these are helping to make our world a better place.

Anna and Makenzie are sorority sisters, best friends, and big and little.

They are a part Delta Gamma, a sorority on Washington State University's campus.

Anna and Makenzie are studying to become teachers when they graduate.

Jordan and Eric are a part of the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon.

They say they owe a lot of their academic successes to their fraternity and the high standards that they hold for them.

Jordan and Eric are big and little and they say that they have now found their best friends in the fraternity and brothers for life.

Shannon (middle) is the Chapter President for Delta Gamma at Washington State University.

Hannah (top left) has followed in her big's footsteps and is taking over as Chapter President starting this December 2017.

Sophie and Cassie are also big and little and they both hold a position on the Executive Board of Delta Gamma.

Sophie is handing down her postion to Cassie starting this December 2017 as well.
