Smiles Are More Than Meets the Eye
Photos and Writing By Lyndsi Messa
I decided to do my project on smiles. People use smiles to express happiness but they are also used as a mask for what people are truly feeling. For instance, someone could be constantly smiling and seem extremely happy. However, that person could be suffering from depression. It is easy to assume that someone is happy just because they are smiling. The point I wanted to make with his project is that someone may look happy but they may not be. For this reason, it is important to always be kind.
For my project, I took photos of people smiling and then asked them to tell me something, more on the emotional side, that someone would not know about them just by looking at their photo. The results are in the captions. The next time you think about being unkind, remember that a smile can hide a lot of things.
