Within the Greek Houses

Photos and Writing by Kyle Simonson

There is a large stigma around Greek chapters. People have preconceived notions of the type of people that we are. People not within our community will assume we are all alcoholics, major party people, avid drug users, people who haze, and people who break the law constantly. Now yes there are those few who are like that, but they don't represent all of us. We are a diverse group of people coming from a wide range of backgrounds and have our own unique interests and desires and things we like to do. This project is meant to highlight those good qualities in people, provide information about us, and to show how we are all unique and caring people, not just your stereotypical Greek member.

This is my roommate Brian, He had a difficult freshman year with alcohol, and now he helps to talk to any member who feels they may have a problem

Here are my roomates, Brian and Hayden. they both run our houses fantasy football league and are both active church goers.

Senior Phi Kappa Tau member Brian Chinn shows his room. He is quiet and reserved so he likes to set everything up in a way that he finds comfortable. He is diabetic and cannot drink, he likes to be different in that way, where most people assume greek members drink a lot, he doesnt drink at all. He runs our houses gaming league and helps members whos laptops get broken.

This is a picture of girls from multiple houses who are all still friends and are spending time together eating and studying. Kristi on her laptop works at the rec

Here is Kristi, a theta, helping Miranda, an AOPi with her homework together

My roommats surprised me with this tree after my uncle died becasuse they wanted to show they cared.

This is all of our new members. They have spent the last semester learning leadership skills, manners, history, and etiquette and they all passed and were allowed to be initiated

This is our flag, we strive everyday to uphold the values and morals associated with this flag. We pride ourselves on being a very diverse and open minded house.

This is Megan, she is a member of Chi Omega, and is an active animal lover. She volunteers often at the animal shelter, devoting her weekends to helping instead of drinking

This is Shayleh, a member of AOPi who is an avid cook and likes to volunteer to help make food for under privileged families. She will bring extra food from her sorority to a food shelter.
