Behind the Scenes of A Night Out

Photos and Writing by Collin Davis

For this project I wanted to document the hard work that goes on in your favorite clubs and bars to provide you with a great night. I decided to focus on this because I think it is something that many of us partake in, but dont necessarily take the time to think about what goes into putting it on. Also, I have many friends who are in the industry and it provided me with a great opportunity to document their efforts.

This was a process that took place over about three days of shooting. It starts with setup and tests and works all the way through the closing of the bar. These photos were shot at Etsi Bravo in downtown Pullman, with most coming from their “Prohibition” party. My hopes were to capture the point of view of the people that provide their customers with a great night, and I think I achieved that. Enjoy!

Bartenders have plenty of work to do before the doors open.

The drinks begin to flow as customers enter and the music begins.

DJ Steven Julian A.K.A. Sitadel watches the dance floor fill as he picks his next track.

Patrons of the club fully embraced the Prohibition theme of the party.

As the night moves on, partygoers eagerly fill the dance floor.

The lighting operator for the club pulls double duty as he takes song requests for the DJ's.

As the dance floor reaches capacity, Cathey switches up the mood with a new track.

The music begins to fade as the lights come on and closing time approaches.
