A Day-in-the-Life of a Sorority Staff

This project has been designed to highlight the everyday activities of a sorority staff that go unnoticed. This portrait series illuminates the common activities that occur in a sorority that aren’t always seen by outsiders, or even the women living in the chapter. The sorority staff is the foundation of the chapter and works to keep it running smoothly. The following photos include the details about the individual and the task or activity they are performing. These activities can vary, but makes a huge difference on how the sorority functions. Other members that are part of the Delta Gamma staff are not featured below.

Austin Marler unloads fresh produce and breaks down empty boxes. He comes in during the morning to get more hours. He typically works "about 20 hours" per week.

Delta Gamma member Sage Dauphin cleans the kitchen in the morning during the weekdays. Her job is similar to that of a house boy, but doesn't require meal preparation.

Another member of Delta Gamma, Elise Johnson, works during the morning on the weekends. Her duties include cleaning the kitchen, stocking the supplies, and doing the dishes.

Chef Terry Glessner does meal preparation every day in the first section of the Kitchen.

House mom Susie Johnson works with the house boys to prepare dinner on Fridays being that Terry leaves early for the weekend.

As the Delta Gamma house mom, Susie oversees the 3 million dollar construction that is taking place.

Susie voluntarily fixes different clothing items for students on campus. Her work typically includes stitching different articles of clothing for Greek men and women.

During the holiday season, Susie loves to decorate the house to brighten it up and make everyone feel at home.

Along with the Christmas tree photoed above, Susie plans to get an even bigger tree and add it to the dining room.
