Whitman County Humane Society

Photos and Writing by Nick Thomas

According to the ASPCA, around 6.5 million cats and dogs enter shelters every year. Unfortunately, every year around 1.5 million sheltered cats and dogs are euthanized. The Whitman County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter located off Moscow road in Pullman, provides care for homeless animals hopes to find every animal that comes through their facilities a new, loving home. Each furry friend that comes through the WCHS facilities has its own personality. While there is no way for us to communicate with cats or dogs, that personality shines through just in how each animal acts when you enter the shelter. Despite all the different personalities, the common theme is that each of the animals just wants to be loved The shelter involves a lot of volunteers who all wnat to see these animals get homes.

Cadet is two years old and was very friendly and curious with visitors.

Caspian's owner surrendered him to the shelter and this one year-old is now looking for a new home.
