24-Hour Theatre

STAGE: Student Theatre had it's first 24-Hour Theatre festival in over four years. The festival was organized and ran by Jake Sullivan a Sophmore. This is Jake's last year at WSU, after the announcement that WSUPA was being cut the programs employees helped Jake find a college in Wyoming with a stage managing program he could afford.

The festival had six playwrights and directors sign up. They were paired up and the playwrights were given their challenges to write around, one of the challeneges included having a character yodel the entirtey of "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem. Then Auditions were held and plays cast. The playwrights and Directors began writing and had until 7am to be done. Then the actors came in and rehearsals began. Each play was given only 45 in the theatre and 20 minutes to tech their play. Doors opened that night at 7:00 and the plays were performed at 7:30pm.

Bryce Park a STAGE: Student Theatre Alumni was the wanderer for the festival. That means he showed up at 7:00pm on saturday, 30 minutes before the performance. He had a part in every play. He had 5 minuted with head director to learn his blocking and given a script. He would then go out on stage in every play with a script in hand reading the lines for the first and performing the play for it's only time. One play took advantage of this and wrote a whole plot around the character of the Wanderer.

What is shown below is mostly scripts because they are the root of the all the theatre done. Without a script we're all just wandering about.

Auditions were held on Friday night from 7-9pm, they filled out this form. Then plays were cast and playrights began writing.
