Labor of Love in Student Organization

Photos and Writing by Cheuk Hang Ng

By the meaning of “labor of love,” I define it as the people who work for pleasure, not reward. In this project, I am glad to be here to introduce a group of people who work for students at Washington State University. They are registered student organization. After I finalized my topic, I started to find different registered student organizations on campus. I finally reached Hong Kong Student Association, and they gave me the permission to take photo during one of the biggest event over the whole year, The Washington State University Night Market.

They told me that the event is cooperated with Taiwanese Student Association, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and Japanese Student Association. In Asian country, night market is one of the symbol of its local culture. People can usually find traditional food in the night market with a cheaper price. This event is also non-profit for the student workers, and all the profit is for the student organization itself. Over 50 student workers was only for pleasure and the heart of serving others, so I chose this event as the topic of “labor of love”.
